icleanteeth
Round of applause for Tahoma's FFA Club at the spring fair! All their pigs were sold at the auction today! Many of the kids took home awards in two categories: 1. market (how the pig looks, body type, etc) and 2. showmanship (how the pig responds to its owner and how the owner controls the pig). The girls pictured earned 1st and 2nd place awards! Not all the kids showed pigs (a couple had lambs) but it was 5 LONG days of being at the fair and participating in various activities and showing. These kids have raised their livestock since mid-November. That means daily barn trips that include cleaning their pens, feeding, training, and working with them. It’s A LOT of work! The students are also responsible for ALL the expenses. This year it was $750 to raise a pig, so you hope you can sell it to make a little profit. It's awesome that all our pigs sold!! There’s so much more, but it truly is such a cool opportunity and so valuable to the kids. These are some of the hardest working kids out there! 3
